What:
Join us for 9 holes of golf and discuss Jim Collins book "Good to Great." Gerald Page, CPIM is putting together the golfing event for us at Dead Horse. We will discuss Jerry's study questions while playing 9-holes of golf.

Study Questions:
- The discussion should center around what gives the best yield for process improvements and sustaining those improvements such as technical solutions or cultural acceptance?
- What sets the companies that had sustained growth/outstanding performance apart from the crowd?
- Also discuss the role of leadership and where focus should be placed in determining what processes to Lean out?
Jerry's Bio:
Gerald Page is a retired US Air Force Major who held numerous positions in logistics including Director, 309th Commodities Maintenance Squadron, Hill Air Force Base, Utah where he oversaw the Air Force’s first successful implementation of an ERP data system and won the first ever Public Sector Shingo Prize for excellence in Lean manufacturing. He was also Commander of the 332nd Expeditionary Logistics Squadron at Al Jaber Air Base, Kuwait where he led all facets of logistics in Kuwait supporting air combat operations in the Middle East. He was also the chief architect in developing the first mobile aircraft spare parts packages for the Air Force’s B-1 and B-2 bomber aircraft. He holds a Master of Science degree in Logistics Management and is now a Logistics and Manufacturing Operations Consultant working with clients such as the Boeing Airplane Company

Apics and Pellissippi State Announce Training Partnership
Dear East Tennessee APICS Chapter Member,
As part of the chapters 2008-2009 strategic plan, we have aligned the chapter’s education offering with Pellissippi State Technical Community College’s (PSTCC) business and professional training programs. This new arrangement allows us to reach a new audience and launch the full spectrum of APICS training. Also, our chapters training align nicely with PSTCC’s other offerings from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and the Project Management Institute (PMI). PSTCC has generously provided us with Brad Coburn to assist us coordinating classes, course information, and registration.
To gain a greater depth of our course offering and review the course material please join us Tuesday, July 15th for an open house at PSTCC. We will be meeting in room AL151 in the Lamar Alexander building please park in lot 05. If you are unfamiliar with the location, a map has been attached for your convenience. PSTCC will provide some light refreshments and we will meet from 6:00-7:00pm. Brad and Chris will be available to answer any course related questions, and you will be able to look through the course material to help find the best match of programs for your’ company. The course offerings for the 2008-2009 year include:
